Why NSCBAV exists

Reaching the Children a Regular School Can't

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalayas provide residential facilities for boys and girls to serve children in sparsely populated tribal, desert or hilly and forested terrain — and in densely populated urban areas, for urban-deprived children — where it may not be viable to set up a separate, full-fledged school.

Where a full Vidyalaya isn't needed, NSCBAV Hostels do the same job at smaller scale: residential accommodation built into the premises of an existing upper-primary, secondary or senior secondary school, so a child from a remote village can still walk into a regular classroom every morning.

Skill Training:

Local experts train students in trades that carry beyond the classroom — widening their horizon past regular coursework and into something they can practice at home.

Physical Activities:

To stay physically fit, students go through regular physical exercise, self-defense practice and yoga — a daily rhythm built into residential life, not an occasional add-on.

Parent-Teacher Meet:

Involvement of parents, guardians and the wider community plays an important part in a child's overall development, so Parent-Teacher Meets are held regularly at the Vidyalayas — keeping home and hostel in step with each other.

Students' Interaction Programme:

Students from different NSCBAVs come together for quizzes, extempore speeches and talent showcases — students of NSCBAV Imphal East visited Imphal West, and Bishnupur visited Thoubal, to compete and learn from one another.

River Day, plantation, health check-ups & culture

Rounding out the calendar, NSCBAVs also observe International River Day, run plantation drives, hold cultural programmes in traditional attire, organise annual games & sports, and bring in health check-up camps for every student.
