Free Uniforms, One Less Barrier to School
In fulfilment of the Constitutional commitment under the Right to Education Act 2009, free school uniforms are provided each academic session to remove a financial hurdle that keeps children — especially girls and children from SC, ST and BPL households — from completing their elementary education.
Scheme Overview
To ensure Constitutional Commitment of RTE Act 2009, the provision of Free Uniform is an attempt towards removal of financial hindrance for children in attaining school till the completion of Elementary Education, the Scheme provides two sets of uniform to all girls, SC, ST and BPL boys at the average rate of Rs. 600 per child per annum. A total number of 131898 students have been provided free school uniforms during the beginning of academic session 2025 in supervision of Zonal Education Officer of concern District.

KEY NOTES
- Who is covered. All girl students, and boys belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, or Below Poverty Line households, receive two sets of uniform every academic year.
- Why it matters. The uniform grant directly addresses a financial hindrance that can keep a child out of school, supporting retention through the completion of Elementary Education as guaranteed under the RTE Act, 2009.
- Scale this year. 1,31,898 students received their free uniforms at the start of academic session 2025 — delivered before the school year began, so no child starts class without one.
- How it is delivered. Distribution is carried out at the school level, under the direct supervision of the Zonal Education Officer of the concerned District.
